A new state park beach opened up at the lake a few weeks ago, and we grabbed an opportunity to check it out.
We stopped by with a few of Trevor's friends on the way back from D-Day Camp (another post). We ate lunch and the boys played for a while.
The only sand Trevor's ever seen is from the sandbox. The only beaches he's seen are in the Pacific Northwest, rocky beaches, with water so cold that only children dare to get wet.
The boys built castles and moats.

I baked in the sun (unintentionally). Trevor swam a bit before we had to leave.

I've already promised him we'll be spending a LOT of time here this summer!

What a beautiful lake. Do they not have lakes and beaches in CO? I find that amazing?
Chatfield Dam in Littleton/Denver is a lake, and its swimming area is sharp, nasty rock.
Memorial Park in Colorado Springs is a small lake, but the liner broke, and it was empty for a while. No sand that I know of, but it wasn't a place that I ever wanted to try to go to!
The beaches in Washington were lovely, but they were exactly what you see in Free Willy. Even though it was August, it wasn't exactly warm. The kids wrapped themselves in seaweed to keep from freezing! Holly passed on the water the following year, but you won't be surprised to know that Trevor braved it again, lol.
WOW! That looks like a GREAT place to hang out this summer.
Looks like a great place to spend time this summer!
That is very interesting, Kristine. We have quite a few lakes around here and while they do not naturally have sandy beaches, someone trucks it in. You can usually find a state or town beach at almost all of the lakes of any size.
The Washington coast sounds like Maine...very cold and only the kids brave the temps.
What a beautiful place! It truly looks like summer. :)
This looks so inviting.
